NEWSFLASH:
An alleged N100million cash gift given to parents of abducted Chibok girls by President Goodluck Jonathan after a meeting at the Presidential villa on July 22 has sparked disagreement between some of the parents and leaders of the Chibok community in Abuja, the BBC Hausa service is reporting. The presidency, the report said, allegedly released the funds to leaders of the Chibok community in Abuja for onward passage to parents of the kidnapped schoolgirls. But some of the parents are now alleging they were shortchanged by the community leaders. One parent, who was among those who visited the president, told BBC’s Abdu Halilu that he got only N200,000.“I got only N200,000 out of the said N100million allegedly received by our leaders in Abuja. Some of us got N300,000 and some less than that,” he said.

OF BLESSING OKAGBARE AND CHIKA AMALAHA NOT FORGETTING ITOHAN.

"What will not woman, gentle woman, dare, When strong affection stirs her spirit up?" - Robert Southey, 1774-1843, English Poet.

With tears of joy I watched Blessing, Chika and Itohan as they danced in Glasgow, Scotland adorning the Green-White-Green at the ongoing Commonwealth Games and telling the world that Nigeria is not all about the two evils of Boko Haram and ill-rule BUT there remaineth (pardon my King James grammar) a generation of excellence, and women of candour, strength, resilience and patriotism.

Yes, Blessing Okagbare just yesterday shattered the Commonwealth Games 100m Women Record as she ran her way to the Gold medal. Days earlier the 16year old Chika Amalaha had also broken the Games record in her Weightlifting category as she won Gold for Nigeria. And Itohan had smashed our own National record in her Weightlifting category as she brought Nigeria a Silver.

The men do not seem so fired up perhaps because 'the troubles with Nigeria' hits them the most and by Jove troubles their tenacity for trophies, however they have won a few medals chiefly the Bronze. In all our National Flag gets waved in far away Scotland.

To the Trio, the great female homo sapiens of Nigerian stalk, to Blessing, Chika and Itohan I doff my hat. May your victory re-energize and re-invigorate the call for the release of the Innocents of Chibok who are yet in the dungeons of the impish Haramists 106days today, yes, they are girls like you, nay they are the victims of ill-rule and politricks.

To you Blessing and Chika the Gold Medalists, may the message in your names speedy the dawn we seek, for Chika (God is the greatest) and from HIM Blessing comes, may the Almighty thereto give us the grace to adorn and wave the Green-White-Green in triumph over terror, poverty and ill-rule, and may HE bless our Fatherland. So Mote It Be. Amen.

"How I Was Attacked – Buhari" - July 23, 2014 - via Premium Times

The former head of state said he was the target of the blast.

Former Head of State, Muhammadu Buhari has described how he narrowly escaped a bomb attack on his convoy Wednesday in Kaduna.

In a short statement, Mr. Buhari said he was the target of the bomber.

“I was personally involved in a clearly targeted bomb attack today along Ali Akilu Road, Kawo-Kaduna at about 2:30pm on my way to Daura,” Mr. Buhari said.

“The unfortunate event, clearly an assassination attempt, came from a fast moving vehicle that made many attempts to overtake my security car but was blocked by my escort vehicle.

“We reached the market area of Kawo where he took advantage of our slowing down and attempted to ram my car and instantly detonated the bomb which destroyed all the three cars in our convoy,” Mr. Buhari said.

The former leader said when he came down from his vehicle, he saw many dead bodies littered around.

“They were innocent people going about their daily business who became victims of mass murder,” he said.

The attack on Mr Buhair followed an earlier blast in Kaduna Wednesday targeting a senior Islamic cleric, Dahiru Bauchi. Mr. Bauchi also escaped unhurt, but police said 25 people died.

The spokesperson of Mr. Buhari’s All Progressive Congress, [APC], Lai Mohammed, also said the explosion was targeted at the former head of state.

“Yes, his convoy was attacked,” Mr. Mohammed said in response to PREMIUM TIMES enquiry. “He narrowly escaped but some of his aides were hurt. The General is ok, but perhaps traumatised.”

A loyalist of Mr. Buhari, Rotimi Fashakin, said the former head of state was on his way to his home town – Daura in neighbouring Katsina state – when he was trailed by the bomber and attacked.

“I’m sure political Boko Haram are behind the attack,” Mr. Fashakin said. “General Buhari was the target of the attack.”

The leader of a pro-Buhari pressure group, The Buhari Vanguard, Jasper Azuatalam, said the former Nigerian leader was possibly attacked over his recent criticism of President Goodluck Jonathan.

“Recall that two days ago, Gen Muhammadu Buhari issued a statement warning President Jonathan and his government on their attempt to muscle the opposition and endanger Nigeria,” Mr. Azuatalam said. “The Presidency raised an eyebrow to the statement.”

Governor Muktar Yero has announced a 24 hour curfew in Kaduna metropolis.

100 DAYS AFTER AND THE INNOCENTS OF CHIBOK ARE YET MISSING.

'We are held together by a single garment of oneness..what affects one directly affects the other indirectly.'- Martin Luther King Jr.

My heart is with you pretty sisters, your ordeal in the hands of impish and godless insurgents is my pain, however my sorrow is that your trauma and the abridgment of your liberty by the Haramists and perhaps the violation of your innocence has become more political than criminal.

Rather than unite as a nation whose innocents are missing, some have made the conspiracy theorem a fetish, to some it is a 'script', when I read this from women who are mothers, and some who will be mothers someday I shudder and wonder what kind of mothers the future presents.

First the Presidential Fact Finding Committee on the Chibok Girls have said that Girls are indeed missing, and 219 girls were yet unaccounted for, sad 7parents have died from the attendant trauma.

Yesterday 160parents and 58 Chibok Girls escapees met with the President in Abuja. NOTE that APC didn't set up the Presidential Fact Finding Committee that declared the abduction true, nor did Activists and Progressives convene same.

Therefore those who for politics and sentiments refuse to feel for the missing girls and their families have God and their conscience to contend with. Yes, Good-luck to those who presume to know more than the President they so much defend. Yes, GEJ has accepted that Girls are indeed missing. Yes, Govt has apologized for the delay in finding our girls. Yes, the Armed Forces, the DSS and the Police have confirmed that Girls are yet missing, and it took 99days for Mr. President to meet their families, thanks to the 17year old Pakistani Malala.

NOW the Conspiracy Theorists MUST close shop in shame, or tell us the value in trillions of dollars of this Chibok movie that has compromised even the President. Sad.

BEWARE THE IDES OF MAN II.

"I count him braver who overcomes his desires than him who conquers his enemies; for the hardest victory is over self."–Aristotle.
Man through history remains true to predictable nuances, pride, greed and conceit his greatest undoing. Kings have been led to shame by their jesters and Princes to odium by praise-singers.

Every so often 'leaders' are blinded by the greed for power by court-jesters whose greed for the good-life blinds them from the visible tragedies concomitant to ill-rule. Bad 'leaders' will always reap the just recompense of bad governance for God is JUST, and history is replete with tales of their sordid end.

I have been tagged an APC apologist by Jonathanians who are often forgetful of the fact that to me the difference between the PDP and the APC is that between six and half a dozen. What counts to me is the people, yes the masses and indeed the Nigerian hoi-polloi is my constituency.

Man is man, man is not White or Black, man is man. Man is neither Yoruba, Ijaw, Hausa or Ibo apologies to the minorities, man is man. And the same blood runs in all men, man is man. Fear is common to all men and so is pain BUT faith however is the diadem of the brave.

The brave calls a spade by its name, the most would look the other way but it doesn't stop it from being a spade. That Nigeria is in dire strait is true, that the politrickcal class is self-centred and ill-intentioned is truism, and that the ship of State is heading towards the iceberg is lucid.

May I repeat that the needed minimum in this turbulence is to torpedo the politics that troubles this Ship and do good governance else this anomie shall assume infernal dimensions.

Man will always seek self-preservation in proportions beyond conjectures, so beware the ides of man, for man is man.

BEWARE THE IDES OF MAN I.Apologies to Shakespeare for the slant I here allude to that benevolent caution to Julius Caesar in his epic work JULIUS CAESAR ditto '...great Caesar beware the ides of March', yet Caesar arrogantly heeded the nodding of his court-jesters and met his Waterloo, he died a somewhat avoidable death because he ignored the ticking of the tinder box.

To President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan I say beware the ides of man. Yes, man is man, man is beyond religion, man is beyond tribe, man is beyond region and primordial nuances, man is man. Man will protect himself first, man will seek his safety first, man will nurse his stomach first and man will protect his own household before yours. Self first is man's strongest logic. Those nudging you on and hailing you, those telling you that 2015 is a given, those crafting devious scripts and working impunity are feathering their own nests, they do not care what becomes of you, they are mindless of what score history will award you, and they do not 'send' whether democracy 'dies' under your watch so long as their bread is buttered, yes beware the ides of man. To my Countrymen and those who have struggled to whip up regional sentiments by reminding me that Jonathan is my brother because I am from the South South, I must say that I am human, and sooner than later when the tragedies of mis-rule snowballs you will all realize that ethnicity or region is little compared to the imperatives of good governance, for when terror and hunger multiplies because of ill-rule, when crisis soars because politics has stifled good governance and when trauma becomes the air we breath, man shall react as man and visit his anger on bad leaders and their collaborators gender, tribe and religion notwithstanding. Yes, beware the ides of man, for man is man.

DANCING ALAN'TA ON A SHARP KNIFE I.

"Man in conceit thinks himself God; man runs as though tomorrow is his to tell; in arrogance he schemes, he plans, he dances, he conjures and contrives, yes he plays God ignorant of the fact that God is GOD, and times HIS to run." - Prof. Chris Nwaokobia Jnr.

I'm concerned that in the face of pervasive crisis some still think that 2015 is bread for conjectures. I'm worried that many are unable to gauge the pulse therefore are taken aback by the anger and angst that inundates the Nigerian space.

Yes, if it is not the Haramists bombing Bornu, Abuja, Adamawa or Jos it is Ritualists be-heading the hapless and the innocent, if it is not Armed Robbers on rampage it is kidnappers holding sway, if it is not billions of Dollars missing from State coffers it is Soldiers destroying buses and holding a State by the jugular, if it is not total darkness in the land it is false claim of leadership strides in the media, and this dance of macabre continues ad nauseam ad infinitum.

Most evident is the failure of a political class that is ill prepared for governance. Profoundly lucid is the dance of guesses and conjectures which defines the entire fabric of politics in Nigeria. Sadly rather than address the fundamentals the people are divided along ethnic, sectional, religious and primordial lines, we truly are a country like no other and a weird specie of homo sapiens.

These are worrisome times, times depicting the invaluableness of extreme caution, times yearning for patriots to man the saddle, times calling for committed leadership beyond politics BUT alas we are engaged in alan'ta shuffle, we are engrossed in a dance of shame mindless of the fierce urgency of the NOW. Sad.

May God save Nigeria.

DANCING ALAN'TA ON A SHARP KNIFE II.

"In the End, we will remember not the words of our enemies, but the silence of our friends." - Martin Luther King, Jr.

I have repeatedly said in my Public Speaking and Writings that I'm neither a fan of the PDP nor am I in sympathy with the APC, my constituency is the hoi polloi, my faith is with Nigeria and my drive the salvage of my nation from the draconic grip of the rampaging buccaneers called politicians.

Every so often I read the carnage that liters our national space I cry. When I hear the daily breaking news of human barbecues baked by bombs and IEDs my heart breaks. And the news of the 7 families that lost bread winners on account of the trauma from the Chibok saga beats the carapace of my mind, yet 85days after, the innocents of Chibok are still unaccounted for.

Some have threatened that should GEJ be stopped by any means legitimate and, or otherwise people like me will be visited from the creeks. Some have said that GEJ must return in 2015 because 'the born to rule' syndrome must be dealt a fatal blow. Some have argued about the politics of it without asking how all this affect the masses. Yes, as the litany of the ifs continue, the dance of macabre deepens.

BUT Countrymen do we yet undermine the fact that when lives count for little the end of the circus is near. Do we forget that when the falcon wags the falconer Golgotha beckons. Do we overlook the fact that this fulminating cataclysm of infernal proportion shall most definitely berth either of two realities, peaceful or violent change BUT change is SURE.

Call me a dreamer, call me a doomsday prophet, call me an ideologue, call me an idealist, call me an excited pundit, call me any name you choose I shall oblige you BUT change remains the only CONSTANT in our universe.

God save Nigeria.

DANCING ALAN'TA ON A SHARP KNIFE III.

"The further a society drifts away from the truth the more it will hate those who speak it."-George Orwell

I chose since I was 18 to be true to myself in all things particularly in matters relating to man and power. I had a few years before encountered Lord Acton's famous quote on power ditto 'power corrupts, absolute power corrupts absolutely'. And in my experiment with the truth I have found nothing truer than the fact that like Niccolo Machiavelli put it in his Book THE PRINCE '...the Prince must be weary of praise singers for they have the ability to blind him to the truth and cause him avoidable hate.' These words are perhaps the most salient reminder of the transience of power viz a viz human nuances.

As lives are mowed down in thousands Mr. President's men see only the politics of it. As the Innocents of Chibok are yet missing 86days after they were abducted from a School on the 15th of April some acolytes of Mr. President remain with a conspiracy theorem long debunked by a Fact Finding Committee set up by the same President. And as business in Maiduguri, Jos and Abuja shrinks on account of tiny patronage concomitant to the Boko Haram insurgency Jonathanians see nothing BUT 2015 and how Mr. President must return in 2015 willy-nilly.

Countrymen and women we appear insignificant in a power equation that means everything to the politrickcal class. Yes, for all they care Nigeria can burn to ashes, for all they care Boko Haram can kill all of us BUT the ambition of one man nudged on by his jesters, acolytes, kinsmen and protégés must prevail.

This dance of macabre is nebulous and worrisome when viewed from the prism of a highly impoverished people who have elected ethnic/religious biases over and above their own well-being. Sad.

May God save Nigeria.

DANCING ALAN'TA ON A SHARP KNIFE IV.

"The arm of deceit is not long for sooner than later the bright light of truth shall overwhelm even the deepest falsehood" - Prof. Chris Nwaokobia Jnr.

A few weeks ago Femi Fani-Kayode regaled us with a piece seeking to buy Christians into his sudden hate for the APC, alas not long after he stands exposed as selfish, yes the charge of corruptly enriching himself to the tune of 19b whilst he was Minister of Aviation have been dropped, yes the Jonathan regime has told the EFCC and the Courts to hands off, that Fani-Kayode did no wrong, O' he took what belongs to him and shall donate some to the 2015 GEJ campaign coffers.

Like the pardon of Alamseiyeigha like the dropping of charges against Mohammed Abacha, hmmm, like the dropping of charges against Fani-Kayode. Yes, the PDP will always say to those who pillage and loot our collective till, 'pledge your loyalty to GEJ and our great party and your sins are forgiven'. Sad, what festers under this demon-crazy is unrivaled and unequaled corruption. Never in the history of our nation have we seen this level of corruption.

No nation moves away from the abyss of rot elevating 'thieves'. No economy prospers without a just distribution of wealth. No country develops without moral margins in leadership. And no State thrives without credible opposition to the policies of the ruling class. To sustain the aberration is to cook an implosion, yes it will breed an explosion of monstrous shape and dimensions.

To the PDP, the APC and the manifold court-jesters and profiteers in the corridors of power, I bring these words of Abraham Lincoln made universal by Bob Marley "You can fool all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time BUT not all of the people all of the time". Take heed.

God save Nigeria.

Ekiti poll: Tribunal strikes out APC motionThe Ekiti State Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal on Wednesday struck out a motion exparte by the All Progressives Congress on the June 21 governorship election won by the Peoples Democratic Party’s candidate, Mr. Ayo Fayose. The tribunal Chairman, Justice Mohammad Sirajo, struck out the motion exparte after it was withdrawn by the applicant’s counsel, Mr. Kabir Akingbolu, who appeared with M.O Balogun and Christain Okoh. The Independent National Electoral Commission declared Fayose winner of the election ahead of the APC candidate and incumbent Governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, after polling 203,090 votes to 120,433. But the APC alleged that the election was fraught with irregularities and manipulated using federal might in favour of the PDP.Security was beefed up around the premises of the Ado Ekiti High Court, the venue of the tribunal sitting, as armed policemen barricaded the double lane that linked Fajuyi Park with Basiri area in the capital city. The motion exparte was brought pursuant to Section 151(1) and (2) of the Electoral Act, 2010 (as amended) and Paragraph 47(1) and (2) of the First Schedule of the Electoral Act, 2010 and under the inherent powers of the tribunal.Akingbolu had submitted that the motion had been overtaken by events since the applicant had filed the substantive petition before the tribunal.Justice Sirajo said, “Upon hearing the motion exparte filed on 11/07/14 together with the Affidavit in support deposed to by Ibrahim Abolusodun, before the tribunal and written addresses on the same date, and after hearing Kabir Akingbolu with him M.O. Balogun and Christain Okoh, the motion exparte dated 11th of July, 2014 and filed the same date having been withdrawn by learned counsel for the applicant, is hereby struck out”.

DANCING ALAN'TA ON A SHARP KNIFE V.

"When the military becomes the preferred agency for clamping down on the media, for grounding aircraft and closure of airports and for forcibly restricting the freedoms of citizens, including elected officials...then there is need for us to return to the drawing board of democratic governance." - Aminu Tambuwal (Speaker, House of Reps.)

As the signs of this morbid dance of macabre broadens I worry for Nigeria. As politricktians ignore the pervasive anomie fore-telling doom ala the ides of March, I pray for fatherland. And as the PDP engages the APC in a show of strength seeking to get through the back door the States it lost in the open, I pray pretty mercies for our nation.

Where truly are we headed? More than 90days since the Chibok girls went missing they are yet unaccounted for, shamelessly it took the visit of a 17year old Pakistani, Malala for our President to accept to see the Parents of the Innocents of Chibok 3months after the Haramists took them away.

Jonathanians see nothing wrong with this cesspool of absurdities, Nyako the APC Governor of Adamawa State has been impeached, we hear that Al-Makura of Nassarawa State is next in line for which the House of Assembly members have been ferried to Abuja, Oshiomole of Edo and Amaechi of Rivers we hear are on the queue for this palace-coup styled impeachment process, I wish the PDP well in this drive that shall most certainly fast-track the road to the dawn we seek.

I must hasten to add that this dance spells doom for our democracy and when the end comes Jonathan, this politrickcal class and their court-jesters MUST be held responsible.

May I close with the inimitable words of J.F Kennedy to wit "..those who make peaceful revolution impossible make violent revolution inevitable".

God Bless Nigeria.
